Shake sensors for developing nations
Welcome to the ShakeNet project! Our mission is to design, build and deploy low-cost networks of strong-motion sensors for earthquake-prone developing nations. When a major earthquake hits, these networks will provide aid agencies with rapid assessments of shaking and structural damage. Deployment will center on schools, to promote awareness of seismic risk and to improve earthquake resilience in the most vulnerable areas. Our regional focus is the Himalayan front, where a great earthquake (M>8) may strike at any moment.
